Abstract
The development of research skills in dentistry becomes valuable when linked to the problems that healthcare professionals will face in their practice. The aim is not to turn all future dentists into researchers, but rather to develop skills in formulating research questions, searching for evidence, interpreting results and critically evaluating new clinical alternatives. However, the teaching of these skills is currently limited to content that is isolated from the reality of clinical practice, degree projects or methodological requirements that are disconnected from clinical problems. Although students recognize the importance of integrating scientific research into the curriculum, curricular and training barriers still persist. In this regard, the challenge for educational institutions lies in integrating research in a way that is useful, contextualized, and consistent with the needs of dental practice.
